Crescendo Studies hosted a Phil Day Fest Merkado. We got to enjoy some street food (chicken barbecue, pork barbecue, soft crab and quail eggs). We also got to see some street dancing, various local businesses, and kids enjoying a moon bounce!

The Cost of Incompetence Booking a 7-hour drum tracking session for highly intricate metal demands precision—not just from the musician, but from the facility. I did everything by the book: I coordinated with Deborah at the front desk, submitted the required paperwork, and called the day prior to confirm. I was assured, verbatim, "Yep, all good. The engineer will be there at noon, if not before." Fast forward to tracking day. I burned my hard-earned PTO, hired a sitter for my dog, paid a deposit for a professional videographer, and single-handedly hauled my massive drum kit and hardware up from Dumfries to Falls Church. By the time the videographer arrived, my setup in Studio A was 90% complete. The only missing element? The audio engineer. Crescendo had simply forgotten to book one. Despite my repeated confirmations, their administrative failure left me completely stranded. The "solutions" I was offered put me in a terrible position: I could either pack up my entire rig myself and haul it all the way back to Dumfries only to bring it back to Crescendo at a later date, or shove my drums into a tiny practice room until their next available 7-hour slot a full week later. My only other option was to let the studio guilt-trip their one available engineer into abandoning a birthday hike to salvage my session with only three hours left. I was forced to pay for their mistake. I begrudgingly stored my gear, but the domino effect was catastrophic—especially since the rescheduled session landed the day before an 8:00 AM flight to Nashville, forcing me to haul my entire rig back home late the night prior to travel. The True Cost of Crescendo’s Negligence: Direct Out-of-Pocket Losses: $550 in unrecoverable sunk costs—comprising a lost $100 videographer deposit, $200 for camera rentals that yielded unusable footage, $150 in dog-sitting fees, and nearly $100 burned on fuel. Time & Productivity Drain: 16 total hours of burned PTO (8 original + 8 rescheduled), 20 hours wasted navigating rush-hour traffic between Dumfries and Falls Church to retrieve and practice on my kit, and an exhausting late-night teardown/haul home right before catching an early morning flight to Nashville the next day. Client Disruption: Forced to call my client to push back the project release date, halting all momentum and delaying prep for upcoming material. Endorsement & Career Fallout: Operating three unfamiliar camera angles solo while trying to execute technical drum takes divided my focus, resulting in ruined footage. Because this content is largely unusable for sponsors and endorsements, I now have to spend additional time and money completely recreating and re-filming these drum videos from scratch. It is staggering how one simple front-desk mistake can completely derail a professional project. The impact of Crescendo Studios' ineptitude stretches far beyond the hundreds of dollars I lost out of pocket—it cost me time, professional momentum, and irreplaceable promotional assets. And while the studio didn't charge me for this session, it still does not offset the loss that I suffered as a result of their mistake. If you are a serious musician who expects a studio to handle the absolute bare minimum of their operational duties, look elsewhere. Crescendo lacks professionalism in spades (and this isn't the first time they've made a scheduling error, either). The only saving grace was Phoenix, the audio engineer, Mike, and Tabitha, whom were absolutely wonderful—they were on time, professional, and helpful throughout the entire ordeal. I highly recommend hiring them independently (outside of Crescendo's capacity).

This is a wonderful venue, I've never been but I visited for a church service and it had everything you need, the facility was clean, nice and updated and the staff was friendly. The main space is a black box theater and can have plays and performances as well as parties depending on who wants to rent it. They have practice rooms and several other features cool place.
