How we handle copyrighted material and respond to takedown requests.
Last updated: June 16, 2026
TuneUp respects the rights of copyright holders. Some content on TuneUp — chord charts, lyrics, and notation that members add or share — is created by users. If you believe content on TuneUp infringes your copyright, tell us using the process below and we’ll act promptly.
User-shared content
Members can add chord charts, lyrics, and notation to their songs, and can choose to share a chord version with the wider TuneUp community. People who share content confirm they have the right to do so. TuneUp does not pre-screen this content; we rely on the notice-and-takedown process below.
By default, chord charts and notation a member creates are private to their band. Community sharing is an explicit, opt-in choice.
Reporting infringement (takedown notice)
Send a notice to our designated agent at copyright@tuneup.band including: (1) your contact details; (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) the specific URL or location of the material on TuneUp; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them; and (6) your physical or electronic signature.
We will remove or disable access to the reported material promptly once we receive a complete, valid notice.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to copyright@tuneup.band with: the material removed and its former location, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed in error, your contact details and consent to jurisdiction, and your signature. We may restore the material unless the original complainant pursues a legal order.
Repeat infringers
We maintain a repeat-infringer policy: accounts that are the subject of repeated, valid copyright notices may be restricted or terminated.
Designated agent
Copyright notices should be sent to: copyright@tuneup.band. This page and address constitute TuneUp’s point of contact for copyright matters.
This is our copyright policy for the free closed beta and is not legal advice. The notice requirements above mirror the elements of a DMCA §512(c) notice; a designated-agent registration with the U.S. Copyright Office supplements this page.
