Solo sections

What it is

Band songs can have solo sections: spots in the arrangement where the recording pauses and one of you takes over for a set number of bars, kept in time by the metronome. When the bars run out, the song picks right back up on the beat.

Adding a solo

Solos live on band songs (they're part of the band's shared arrangement):

  1. In practice, double-tap the lyric line where the solo should start.
  2. Choose Solo, pick who's soloing (and on what instrument) and the length in bars.

The solo appears as a chip under that line, showing the soloist, instrument, and bar count. Tap it to edit; press and drag to move it to a different line.

What happens in playback

When playback reaches the solo, the music and lyrics freeze while the metronome keeps counting. You'll see pulsing tempo dots and a bars-remaining countdown (plus a little celebration for the soloist). After the last bar, the recording resumes exactly on the beat.

In live mode the whole band freezes and resumes together.
