Start a jam
What it is
A jam is a one-off session that doesn't need a band: TuneUp quietly creates one behind the scenes ("Dana's jam") so the session machinery just works. You say what instruments you need, and players nearby apply for the spots.
Steps
From Play with → Create new → New session → choose jam (or the Search map's "Create a session" button):
- You'll play: your instrument for this jam.
- Spots you need: add an open slot per instrument (two guitarists? add guitar twice).
- Genres and Vibe: the difficulty level: Any, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Pro.
- When and Where: date, time, and city (or tap Locate).
- Who can join:
- Open: anyone can join a free slot instantly.
- Approval: you review each applicant (the default).
- Private: invite only.
- Add a description if you like, then Publish jam.
Your jam gets a session page like any rehearsal: setlist, notes, live mode included.
Managing applicants
As host you'll be notified of each application. Open the jam and use Manage applicants to approve or decline; you can also chat with applicants first.
After the jam
Clicked with the crew? TuneUp will suggest turning the jam into a real band: one tap pre-fills the band creation flow with everyone who played. See Create a band.
